Saint-Michel-l’Observatoire

Although tourists come mainly for the Astronomical Observatory, the village is extremely charming and exudes all the scent and colours of Provence with its wrought-iron bell tower and pretty 17th-century façades.

From the village terrace, there is a wonderful view of the Montagne de Lure and a white rock, also known as the Roche Amère of the Volx quarries.

The Astronomical Observatory, located where it is said there is the purest sky in France, boasts 13 domes and a pontil telescope.
