This very special octagonal square is one of the most elegant and stately in the city.

Surrounded by arcades and buildings dating back to 1687, it boasts the chicest shops in all of Paris and, of course, the most prestigious hotel, the Ritz.

In the centre stands the Vendome Column formed from a stone core encased in a bronze spiral made from the fusion of the Austrian and Russian cannons defeated by Napoleon in the famous Battle of Austerlitz in 1805.
