This absolutely spectacular square is the oldest in Paris and dates back to the 1600s. It offers its visitors an impressive symmetry thanks to its 36 buildings, 9 on each side.
It is considered by many to be one of the most beautiful squares in the world, and its fame is not undeserved: the overhanging slate roofs, the arcades through which the light filters, the picturesque dormer windows, the gardens that are filled with students, artists and dreamers on fine days, all contribute to creating a magical atmosphere.
Let us not forget that Cardinal Richelieu and the writer Victor Hugo also lived here : the Maison de Victor is a small municipal museum that houses drawings and portraits of the famous artist.
