Atelier des Lumières

L'Atelier des Lumières is an interactive and immersive permanent exhibition that will take you on a psychedelic journey through the works of great painters.

Situated between Place de la Bastille and Place de la Nation, the Atelier des Lumières is housed in a former foundry in the 11th arrondissement of Paris: the attraction offers monumental immersive digital exhibitions, which change theme in rotation.

With 140 video projectors and a spatialised sound system, this unique multimedia structure encompasses 3,300 m² of floor-to-ceiling space, with walls up to 10 metres high.

Get ready to visit the first digital art museum in Paris: a kaleidoscopic journey through art, taking you into the three-dimensional world.

Things to do at the Atelier des Lumières

This museum allows visitors to appreciate art in a completely new and interesting way.

As if by magic, the paintings will come alive around you and the accompanying music will transport you away from all thoughts of everyday life. This auditory and visual immersion will engage all your senses and you will be enchanted by the thousands of images of works of art set in motion, accompanied by wonderfully curated music.

The huge hall will take you into the magical world of world-famous artists, such as the much-loved Klimt or Van Gogh exhibition. Artists and exhibitions change cyclically, offering an incredible artistic programme. The visit lasts about 45 to 60 minutes and you are free to walk around, sit and contemplate the wonder of art in total meditation and visual ecstasy.

The Atelier des Lumières is a true modern and contemporary art centre: this type of attraction redefines and clearly contrasts with the classic concept of a museum, static and structured.

What’s more, it is housed in an old foundry, founded in 1835 and redeveloped after decades of neglect: it is located in a trendy, bohemian and fashionable neighbourhood, full of nightclubs, restaurants and bistros.

Opening hours and tickets

L’Atelier des Lumières is open Monday to Thursday from 10 am to 6 pm. It is open in the evening on Fridays and Saturdays until 10 p.m. and on Sundays until 7 p.m.

There are two types of tickets:

We strongly recommend purchasing tickets in advance, as the number of visitors is limited by the time slot. As the attraction is also very popular with locals, tickets often sell out quickly, especially in high season.
